Growling with Wild Wolf
Dear Dreamer,
In your dreams lately, have you noticed any invitations into movement? Physical gestures the Dream presents, that you could explore with your body?
It’s too easy to overlook these invitations, or to not notice them at all.
Our culture doesn’t make much space for movement—it’s only allowed in designated arenas, the most widely accepted being sports/fitness-related spaces where the acceptable movement vocabulary is extremely choreographed, or dictated. Performing arts spaces may be the only area where it is acceptable to move our bodies freely and not just for utility.
Allowing ourselves to physically engage with our imaginations is its own kind of liberatory act.
When the Dream brings Wild Wolf to your doorstep, threatening to attack, do not answer with the slippery analysis of your mind.
Rather, bare your teeth and growl back.
Hunch down, and see what it would be like to tussle.
Can you feel the animal of your body waking up?
How often do you allow yourself these sensations?
What if the pretend play of our childhood was a kind of intelligence we cut short?
Consider the possibility that Dream medicine is inviting you into movement and pretend play now.
